A Busy Few Weeks for Solent Streetworks: Football, Construction and What’s Next

UK Construction Week 2026 sign

It’s been a busy few weeks for Solent Streetworks Consultants, with an exciting football sponsorship announcement, industry exhibitions and plenty of work supporting clients with their street works requirements.

From St Mary’s Stadium to Birmingham’s NEC, there’s been lots happening both on and off the road!

A Proud Moment: Southampton FC Sponsorship

We’ve had some exciting news to share!

Solent Streetworks has entered into an agreement with SportingAds for a crowd-facing pitchside advertising board at St Mary’s Stadium, home of Southampton Football Club.

This marks the second time we’ve sponsored the Saints, and it’s a milestone that means a great deal personally.

As a lifelong Southampton supporter and season ticket holder for almost 15 years, seeing Solent Streetworks represented at St Mary’s is something I’m incredibly proud of.

The agreement also takes the number of football clubs we support through sponsorship and pitchside advertising to five, reflecting another exciting step in the business’s journey.

All being well, our new advertising board will be installed behind the goal in the Northam Stand ahead of the South Coast Derby. There couldn’t be a more fitting occasion for its first appearance!

When I established Solent Streetworks in 2017, opportunities like this were ambitions for the future. Almost a decade later, it’s rewarding to see how far the business has come.

Back at the NEC for UK Construction Week 2026

It’s also been a particularly busy period on the exhibition circuit, including our recent visit to UK Construction Week 2026 at Birmingham’s NEC.

In fact, it was our third visit to the NEC in just three weeks!

UK Construction Week provided an excellent opportunity to meet Principal and Main Contractors delivering projects across the UK, alongside the many businesses supporting the construction supply chain.

For Solent Streetworks, attending these events isn’t just about networking. It’s about building relationships, understanding the challenges facing the industry and raising awareness of how specialist street works support can make a difference.

Construction projects often involve far more coordination than people realise, particularly when works affect the public highway.

Whether it’s arranging a new utility connection, securing the appropriate highway licences or preparing traffic management plans, there are numerous requirements to consider before a project can get underway.

Having an experienced team managing these elements allows contractors and project managers to focus on delivering their work, knowing the street works requirements are being handled.

There was even time for a quick visit to the Pets & Aquatics Trade Show while at the NEC, although that was more about finding a few freebies for Apollo the Cockapoo than discussing highways!

Next Stop: Highways UK 2026

After several busy weeks attending exhibitions, we’re looking ahead to our next event: Highways UK 2026 at the NEC.

This time, rather than attending as visitors, Solent Streetworks will be exhibiting.

We’re looking forward to catching up with familiar faces, making new connections and speaking with businesses across the highways, utilities, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Events like Highways UK provide a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, discuss industry developments and demonstrate how our services support projects of all sizes.

If you’re attending, please come over and say hello. We’d be pleased to hear about your upcoming projects and discuss where we might be able to help.

Supporting Projects with Highway Licences and Permissions

Alongside the exhibitions and sponsorship news, it’s business as usual at Solent Streetworks, helping clients navigate the requirements involved in working on or around the public highway.

Whether you’re planning a construction project, arranging utility works or need to place equipment on the highway, having the correct permissions in place is essential.

Something as straightforward as positioning a crane, skip or scaffolding on the highway can involve applications, local authority requirements and specific conditions that must be met before work can begin.

At Solent Streetworks, we help take that responsibility off our clients’ hands by managing the application process, liaising with the relevant authorities and helping ensure the necessary permissions are secured.

Our services include:

  • Highway licences for cranes, skips, scaffolding and other temporary highway occupations.
  • Section 50 and Section 171 applications for works affecting the public highway.
  • Street Works permits to help coordinate planned works.
  • Traffic Management CAD drawings to support safe working arrangements.
  • Safe Digs packs to help identify underground utilities before excavation.
  • Local Authority liaison to help navigate requirements and keep projects progressing.

Getting us involved early can help avoid unnecessary delays, reduce the administrative burden and ensure the right processes are followed from the outset.

Looking Ahead

From celebrating another football sponsorship milestone to expanding our industry connections and supporting clients with their highway requirements, it’s been a varied and rewarding few weeks.

As Solent Streetworks continues to grow, our focus remains the same: providing knowledgeable, reliable and practical support to businesses navigating street works and highway requirements.
