Spring has been a busy and exciting season for Solent Streetworks. From conferences to local infrastructure transformations, March and April have highlighted our ongoing commitment to smarter, safer, and more connected traffic management across the South.

Here’s a look back at some of the key moments:

1. Kicking Off with the Road to DTRO Conference

We began the season in Birmingham at the #RoadtoDTRO conference, hosted by Intelligent Transport Systems UK and Causeway Technologies at the historic IET Birmingham.

The event focused on the digital evolution of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs)—an essential step in improving traffic management by Local Authorities, roadworks, and public transport. With smarter digital processes on the horizon, we’re excited to see how this will shape more efficient, accessible travel networks.

It was an inspiring event that reinforced our role in supporting modernised infrastructure.

2. Supporting Southampton’s City Centre Transformation

Back on our home turf in Southampton, a major city landmark – the former Debenhams building – entered its next phase of demolition. Once a vibrant retail hub, the vacant site had become an eyesore. But change is underway.

Solent Streetworks is proud to be supporting this transformation. In partnership with Forshaw Demolition Limited and Imperial Traffic Management, we’ve delivered a bespoke traffic management solution that ensures safe pedestrian access around the northeastern section of the site.

Thanks to Southampton City Council and Balfour Beatty Living Places for their collaboration and support in making these works safe, efficient, and community-focused.

What’s next for this prime central location? We’re eager to see how it evolves.

3. Recognised in the #HAUCUK2030Vision Report

On a national level, we were thrilled to be recognised in the #HAUCUK2030Vision report, Innovation: From Vision to Reality. This publication gathers input from top industry professionals working to shape the UK’s future infrastructure and highways network.

Being included among such respected peers is both an honour and a reflection of the work we’re doing at Solent Streetworks to drive real-world innovation in transport and streetworks.

4. Looking Ahead to Connected North 2025

We’re now gearing up for Connected North 2025 on April 23–24 – the North’s leading digital economy event. With over 200 expert speakers and 2,500 attendees expected, the event will explore how improved connectivity can unlock social and economic growth across the UK.

I’m excited to attend and represent Solent Streetworks, contributing to vital conversations around digital infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive progress.

Final Thoughts

From city-centre traffic management to digital transport transformation, this spring has been full of progress, partnerships, and purpose. As we continue into the year, we remain committed to making streets smarter, journeys safer, and infrastructure future-ready.
